SSHE Lead III
(Safety, Security, Health and Environmental)
Pantheon is seeking a SSHE Lead III for our major Oil and Gas client.
Location: Kearl
Rate: $ 95/hr.
Contract: 6 Months
The Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) Supervisor supports applicable functions/units/projects in developing and reviewing deliverables, responding to Management requests, identifying staffing needs, and reviewing/endorsing applicable work deliverables. The SSHE Supervisor ensures that the tools, resources, and support are fit for purpose, providing stewardship, analysis, direction, and supervisory support to drive the organization to achieve SSHE objectives and priorities. The SSHE Supervisor is responsible for managing reporting personnel to optimize performance and for their stewardship and career development.
Tasks And Responsibilities
In addition to all Level 1 and 2 tasks and responsibilities, Level 3:
• Ensure understanding of and compliance to legal requirements
• Report all SSHE incidents
• Conduct Workplace Safety Observations
• Comply with Client requirements and promote SSHE on site
• Comply with the Emergency Preparedness and Response Procedure requirements
• Ensure compliance with PPE requirements.
Skills And Qualifications
• Experience working in a multicultural / multilingual, emerging nation, environment
• Experience in safety-related positions (including some prior oil & gas experience)
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Behavioral Skills: courage of conviction, makes sound decisions, manages risk, strategic
• Functional Skills: emergency preparedness and response, incident investigation and analysis, operations integrity and compliance assessment, Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) execution support, risk assessment and management, safety management, safety regulations and standards, fundamentals of health, fundamentals of security, environmental business planning, environmental standards, regulation development and advocacy, regulatory compliance and permitting.
• Extensive knowledge of security processes and procedures
• Proficient in use of computers and programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Microsoft Office
• Read, write, and speak fluent English, as required to function effectively within a project team
• Demonstrated ability to deliver excellence in project SSHE performance
• Demonstrated ability to develop successful internal and external working relationships with emphasis on interfacing in a team environment
• Ability to set priorities and work independently in performing contractor services with an appreciation for company processes and procedures
• No training will be provided (other than the company’s specific safety standards and procedures
Additional Skills
Provide onsite SSHE leadership and technical support to KDP management and teams. The SSHE Advisor will help ensure compliance to IOL policies and practices and OHS Regulation, while also promoting a strong safety culture across all site activities.
Support Management team on orientations/kick off meetings, review of Project HSE plans and monitor field performance for compliance and areas for improvement in line with client/project requirements.
Deliver main KDP orientation material and PSMS training to new personnel.
Ensure medical response plan/preparation is followed for all safety incidents or concerns, and follow-up with clinic and contractors.
Visit locations, review pretask briefings, LSRA, and JSA’s for completeness; provide coaching.
Monitor field drilling activities, coach/support all stakeholders/management on HSE related initiatives.
Perform V&Vs and other KPA actions and enter observation results as required.
Complete one structured safety observation per day (KPA platform entry).
Prepare weekly safety reports and total observations; award standout individuals.
Establish relationships with Kearl mine ops safety advisors and KDP contractor safety advisors; share information and support as required.
Help develop and review SOPs, SWPs, JSA/JHAs for different trades and contractors.
Engage, interact, and liaise with various regulatory reps on any compliance related matters.
Basic knowledge of drilling operations and scopes.
Participate in site tours, ride-alongs, inspections and hazard hunts.
Respond to emergency events and incidents during or outside regular working hours.
Support and assist with any incident investigations that are required.
Conduct incident investigations, follow up on action items, and communicate findings through bulletins and newsletters.
Prepare internal incident investigation reports using Imperial incident sharepoint.
Ensure contractor provides quality incident information with corrective actions.
Go to the clinic if any workers go for assessment or treatment; IP Mgmt. is critical.
Maintain contact with contractor safety leads and support them when possible.
Ensure that any SSE’s are monitored and coached as per contractor policy.
Share safety related alerts, briefs, and other information.
Report to KDP Superintendent and Other Safety Leads as required
Ensure all contractors are reporting monthly hours worked.
Manage records for rental radio equipment for contractors.
Access additional resources available via Kearl Projects group when necessary
Promote open lines of communication with personnel to enhance Advisor effectiveness
Maintain awareness of project needs and assist where possible
Position is fast paced and requires someone who is a self-starter and works well under pressure.
